We want to invite you to join a group that has earned a reputation as a highly respected citizens' organization that researches issues and educates the public and decision-makers. You will be part of a group of women and men who want to make a difference in their communities, state, nation and the world. The League also works at many levels--local, Bay Area, state and national--educating policymakers and the general public on important issues.
So whether you have a little or a lot of time to devote to the League, there is a place for you to pursue your interests and a League process to enable you to make your voice heard. The League has portfolios/positions on: mental health, education, healthcare, environment and natural resources, election system reform, campaign finance reform, boards and commissions, and the juvenile justice system. We also have need for people with an interest in state and national legislation, website development, voter registration, and public relations.
Joining our local League automatically makes you a member of the Bay Area, State and National Leagues and eligible to receive their publications. In addition, we will put you on our email list to receive action alerts and other time-sensitive information. .
We believe the League is special because special people have banded together to work at various levels--local, regional, state, and national--to make Democracy work. Our League is only as strong as the people who are in it. Please join us!
Who Are the Members?
Membership in the League of Women Voters, the most respected and effective grassroots organization in the country, is open to men and women of all ages. Our members make a visible difference by serving as community leaders using their experience to create positive, lasting change in our communities.

How Much Time Does it Take?
It's up to you! Many members choose to support the League only with their annual dues. Your membership alone gives us the political influence needed to build a voice for citizens and a force for change. We cover a broad spectrum of issues and concerns; you may choose to become involved in one or more of them by actively participating in a group study, or listening to a panel of experts at a meeting or just reading about them in one of our publications.
What Do I Get?
You automatically become a member of the Bay Area Inter-League Organization, LWV California and LWV of the United States. You will receive all their publications. You will have the knowledge that you are adding your voice to a powerful force of members from all 50 states, Washington DC and the Virgin Islands.
What Does it Cost?
Our annual individual membership is $70.
