With the data from the 2020 Census now in county hands, the work of redrawing district lines based on that data is currently in process.

Redistricting determines which neighborhoods and communities are grouped into a district for the purposes of electing members to the Board of Supervisors. Once drawn, the maps determine how we will be represented in the government for the next 10 years. This means all local decisions on health care, jobs, the environment, education, and more.

Public input is encouraged! You can participate in the following ways:

  • Attend public hearings. The next hearings will take place at the Board of Supervisors meetings on Nov. 9, Nov. 24, and Dec. 14. Hearings are live broadcast on the county's website. Check for details here. You can also call-in to public hearings to make live comments by phone. The phone number and process for calling in will be posted on each hearing agenda, posted on the county website. the Thursday before the public hearings.
  •  Submit eComments on agendas on the county website. Agendas are posted the Thursday before public hearings.
  •  Submit comments anytime via email to redistricting [at] co.nevada.ca.us. Comments will be available for public review.
  • Suggest neighborhood and community of interest maps. California law defines Communities of Interest as “a population that shares common social or economic interests that should be included within a single district for purposes of its effective and fair representation." To submit a map, you can use a tool called DistrictR. Visit https://districtr.org  for information about how to use the tool. Visit https://districtr.org/tag/NevadaCo to submit map ideas to the custom Nevada County page.
