On Monday, September 9th, the League of Women Voters - Highland Park & Highwood and the Highland Park Public Library will present a documentary in the auditorium of the Highland Park Public Library. Click here for a description of the film, which follows the personal stories of eight families struggling in the aftermath of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Filmed over the course of one winter in one American city, the film is unfortunately as relevant as it was when released in 2013. With its depiction of the high costs of living, unemployment and underemployment, and cuts to the social safey net, the film highlights the urgent need for community support and social safety nets.

This is what we hope will be the first of an ongoing series of documentary films sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Highland Park & Highwood, in partnership with the Highland Park Public Library.
