No Kings

Exercise Your First Amendment Rights

The League of Women Voters believes that the delicate balance of American governance is under severe strain and our constitution is in crisis.  We are currently experiencing the deliberate erosion of the checks and balances designed by the founders, executive actions that challenge Congress’s exclusive control over federal spending, open defiance of judicial rulings, and targeted attempts to weaken independent institutions – such as the Department of Justice and regulatory agencies – by prioritizing political loyalty over the rule of law.

Protest is Essential

The League is committed to preserving our democracy, and that requires visible action.  Join us as we engage in peaceful and purposeful protests on October 18th in NO KINGS demonstrations.  No Kings is a nationwide movement that aims to push back on the increasing authoritarian style of leadership of the current administration.  There are several NO KINGS protests throughout Illinois, from McHenry to Carbondale and from Charleston to Galena.  Find the nearest one at nokings.org.
