The term "critical race theory" has been co-opted by conservatives in an attempt to stop Kansas educators from teaching factual BIPOC history and politics. For reference, please read this report by KCUR aired on June 11, 2021.

Here are the five main 2020 Kansas Standards for History, Government, and Social Studies:

  1. Choices have consequences.
  2. Individuals have rights and responsibilities.
  3. Societies are shaped by the identities, beliefs, and practices of individuals and groups.
  4. Societies experience continuity and change over time.
  5. Relationships among people, places, ideas, and environments are dynamic.

Search these Kansas Standards for specific content: For example, "Students will analyze and evaluate how our political process works, the growing role of interest groups, and mass media's impact on our political ideologies" (pp. 177-78).
