July 2018 Co-Presidents' Message

News

By the time you read this, people all over the country will have rallied or marched on Saturday, June 30 in support of ending family separation and detention. This cause is supported by the League, the ACLU, and many other organizations as well as countless individuals. We hope that those of you who attended had a fulfilling time and avoided heatstroke.

This past weekend, several members of our board - Debra Duncan, Cille King and Kristin Salmans - were in attendance at the National Convention in Chicago, along with delegates from all over Kansas and the nation. They will be returning with guidance and inspiration for our local league, which we will be sharing with you in the weeks and months to come.

Besides helping with voter registration and education, there are a number of ways you can help the League. Submit photos of any events you’ve attended for the website, or come to a Coffee & Conversation or a Drinks & Democracy (check the calendar!) to share ideas: for the upcoming centennial celebrations, for fundraising, for student outreach, for anything that interests you. And always feel free to bring a friend.

Wishing you all a pleasant holiday, however long it lasts for you!
