Happy Spring to everyone!
So thankful for the sunshine and warmer weather! We haven’t been able to get out and register voters as we usually do, but we are getting creative with the ways we reach people. One coming right up will be Cruisin’ for Voters. Join us Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, to drive through town, encouraging people to register, request bal- lots by mail, and VOTE! The NAACP and Moms Demand Action as well as other community partners will be joining us.This is part of our effort to March to the Polls, getting out the vote in areas of low voter turnout.
The LWV National Convention has gone virtual this centennial year due to COVID-19. At this time, registration is limited to voting delegates from each League. They hope to open registration to other members as well.Watch for emails and Facebook information about this. Our five Lawrence/Douglas County National Delegates for 2020 will be Emily Riner, Martha Silks, Marjorie Cole, Melissa Wick and Kristin Salmans.
Our Kansas State LWV will have a booth at the Kansas State Fair in celebration of our centennial this year! The LWV LDC is signed up to staff our booth on Saturday, Sept 12. We need 2-3 volunteers per shift 9am-7pm. Please sign up here https://forms.gle/wJDe9TfqaD1noHDT6 It should be a really fun time!
We look forward to a time when we can gather again. In the meantime, stay safe!
