Plan to attend an exciting event at the Lawrence Public Library on Monday, August 26th at 7 PM. The League of Women Voters of Lawrence/Douglas County, together with the Jayhawk Audubon Society, WAT (Water Advocacy Team), LETUS (Lawrence Ecology Team United for Sustainability), the Wakarusa group of the Sierra Club, along with the Library are co-sponsoring Richard Mabion to speak about his experiences in Kansas City, KS as an advocate for clean-air issues.
Richard Mabion is a grass roots environmental activist. In 2007 he launched Building A Sustainable Earth Community. In 2012 he was elected to KS Sierra Club board and is currently its President. In 2015 he was elected President of NAACP. He will share his philosophy of environmental organizing, and recount experience with ongoing projects on energy efficiency.
