The League of Women Voters assisted in founding the United Nations in 1945. We were one of the first organizations to be recognized by the UN as a non-government organization observer, and continue that status with four full-time volunteer observers in New York today.  Commission on the Status of Women 65 is the UN's largest annual gathering on gender equality and women's empowerment. Kristin Salmans, immediate past president of LWVL-DC and current vice president, will review her experience as one of 20 delegates from League of Women Voters attending from the US.
