                                       Goudie for Selectman

About the Candidate: I’m a current senior at Syracuse University, where I study Political Science. Having grown up here in Wenham, I have a deep admiration for my hometown. I have worked a number of jobs that have prepared me to work and communicate effectively with my colleagues. My time as the Assistant Director of the WVIS Park Program was especially rewarding. Helping to organize the experience that made my summers so enjoyable was one that I will not soon forget. I hope voters will allow me this opportunity to serve you in the coming year.

1) What issues do you feel will be the most challenging for Wenham to resolve in the next 2 years? What skills do you have that will help the town meet these challenges?
In the remainder of Mr. Wilhelm’s term through to the town elections in 2022, I would like to help Wenham bolster its culture of engagement by modernizing our systems of communicating information with our voters and help the Board of Selectman and School Committee negotiate a responsible budget within our levy limit. I know that I can use my recent experience in the high school to offer a fresh perspective to further conversations that will last well beyond the remainder of this special one-year term. As the youngest candidate, I feel uniquely positioned to help my fellow officials better utilize the technologies available to them. I am confident that my collegiate studies and the experience in marketing I gained from our acclaimed high school DECA program, will prove to be a boon.

2) How would you gather the information you need to make decisions and what principles would guide your decision making?
Beyond my own frugality, my decision-making will be guided by my firm belief in communicative governance. Decisions are only as strong as the plurality of opinions that inform them, thus I would work diligently to gather pertinent information from my fellow citizens and officials while prioritizing transparency and inclusivity.
