UPDATE: The LWVW is canceling Meet the Candidates Night which was scheduled for March 12th., which contains information about the candidates for town office, will go live on March 11th.

Meet the Candidates Night will be held on Thursday, March 12th from 6:30 - 9 pm. in the Wellesley Middle School Auditorium (note new venue this year!).  The event promises to be a lively venue for voters to meet the candidates first-hand, hear their positions on issues of importance to the town, and pose questions directly to them.  Nineteen candidates are running for sixteen Town-wide offices and four races - Moderator, Selectmen, School Committee, and Board of Public Works (1 year term) - are contested. The Meet & Greet reception begins at 6:30 pm and will be followed by a brief ceremony honoring retired elected officials and the formal Candidates Forum at 7:00 pm.  The event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

Meet the Candidates Night event will be live on Comcast 8/Verizon 40 and will replay up through the election on same channels. Check TV guide on for specific days/times. The event will also be streamed in high definition live via the Internet and available for on-demand viewing the next morning.  The link to the HD on-demand player is on the home page of the Wellesley Media website.  Go to the LWV playlist once you launch the player.

Wellesley’s town Election Day is Tuesday, March 17th, with polls open from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm. Further election details are available through the Town Clerk and on the League of Women Voters of Wellesley website

The League of Women Voters of Wellesley, a nonpartisan political organization, has been dedicated to encouraging active and informed participation in government in Wellesley for the last 80 years.  In sponsoring Meet the Candidates Night, it adheres to strict guidelines to assure a fair and impartial opportunity for all candidates to present their views.   Related League-sponsored events include “How to Run for Public Office”, Voter Registration Days at Wellesley High School and other venues, and Town Government Meet-Ups to bring elected officials together with their constituency to share ideas and concerns.
