The polls will be open on Election Day (tomorrow, August 5) from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. To find your polling place, go to mi.gov/vote and click on “Where is my polling place?” If you are in line by 8 p.m., you have the right to vote.

If you are not registered to vote, or you need to update your registration, you can register to vote or update your registration in person at your city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency until 8 p.m. on Election Day. After you register, you can vote using an absentee ballot at your clerk’s office.

Unless you are serving in the military or living overseas, your absentee ballot must be received by your city or township clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day (tomorrow, August 5). If you still have your ballot, drop it off at your city or township clerk’s office or return it using a drop box in your city or township. You can find the location and hours of your clerk’s office and drop box(es) by visiting mi.gov/vote and clicking on “Your voter information.” If you live anywhere other than Detroit, you can also bring your absentee ballot to your polling place on Election Day and feed it into a tabulator. Just let the poll workers know that you’d like to do this when you arrive.

If you are serving in the military or living overseas, your absentee ballot must be postmarked by Election Day (August 5) and received by August 11 in order to count.

If you have any questions about voting or need to report an issue, call the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline at (866) OUR-VOTE | (866) 687-8683. Promote the Vote is monitoring all calls to the Hotline. If no volunteers are available to take your call, you can leave a message, and someone will call you back as soon as they can.

MichiganVoting.org’s Know Your Rights page has everything you need to know to make your voice heard in Michigan’s elections.

This invaluable information will help you make an informed decision about who you’re voting for.

Once you decide which candidate in a race best matches your values you can “choose” that candidate. MyBallotMyPower.org will save it for you and move to the next race. Once you “choose” candidates and positions for each race, MyBallotMyPower.org will allow you to email yourself the results so you’re ready for the voting booth!
