In order to vote in Michigan, you must be registered to vote. Since the state Primary Election is on August 6, 2024, it’s time to start reminding Michiganders to register to vote or to update their registration. You can register to vote until 8 p.m. on Election Day, but we encourage you to register as soon as possible. The earlier you register, the more choices you will have for how to register. To start, you can check to see if you’re already registered by visiting the Michigan Voter Information Center (MVIC), clicking on “your voter information,” and entering the required information. If you are not registered, or are not registered to vote where you live, you have many options. Starting July 23 through 8 p.m. on Election Day (August 6): there is only ONE way to register to vote – by visiting your city or township clerk’s office and providing proof of residency (like a paystub or utility bill). A note about language access . . . The Secretary of State has translated registration forms (go to the link and scroll down to "Voter Registration") in multiple languages, including Arabic, Bangla, and Spanish; you can also find them and other in-language information on MichiganVoting.org’s in-language resource pages. Upcoming Key Dates: July 23: Beginning July 23 through 8 p.m on Election Day, you must register to vote in-person at your city or township clerk’s office or satellite office with proof of residency. |
