Early voting will take place at early voting sites. Your early voting site will likely be different from your Election Day polling place. To find your early voting site(s), visit mi.gov/vote and click on “Where do I go to Early Vote.”
Early voting sites in Canton, Detroit, and East Lansing are open now. Early voting sites statewide must be open starting Saturday, October 26. Early voting must end by Sunday, November 3. To find out when early voting will be offered in your community, visit mi.gov/vote and click on “Where do I go to Early Vote.”
Voting at an early voting site will feel similar to voting at your polling place on Election Day. You will check in with the poll workers, receive your ballot, fill it out, and place it into a tabulator.

And finally, if you have any questions about early voting (or voting in general) or need to report an issue, call or text the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline at (866) OUR-VOTE |(866) 687-8683 or one of the hotlines available in a language other than English for assistance.
Now: Vote in-person with an absentee ballot at your city or township clerk’s office. At this point, we no longer recommend applying for a ballot by mail. If you cannot vote in person in this election, we recommend calling (866) OUR-VOTE for guidance.
October 21 (today): Last day to register to vote online or by mail (starting tomorrow, October 22, you’ll need to register in person at your city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency).
October 22 (tomorrow): For most voters,* this is the last day we recommend dropping your ballot in the mail (starting October 23, we recommend returning your absentee ballot in person to your city or township clerk’s office or satellite office, or to a secure drop box provided by your clerk). *If you’re serving in the military or living overseas, your ballot must be postmarked by Election Day (November 5) and received by November 11 to count.
October 26: Early voting starts statewide (first day of the mandatory early voting period).
