SEMCOG invites input on Public Participation Plan

SEMCOG, the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments, seeks to enhance decision making by providing leadership and consensus building on key plans and policies. One way the organization achieves this is through the public participation processes, which provide opportunities for interested parties to engage with and provide input on SEMCOG’s regional plans, programs, and activities. The document that guides the public involvement process is SEMCOG’s Public Participation Plan.

The revised Draft Public Participation Plan has been released for its public comment period, prior to scheduled approval at SEMCOG’s July 27, 2023 Executive Committee meeting. Now through July 27, 2023, anyone interested is invited to review and comment on the draft. Your comments will help ensure effective, broad-based participation is incorporated and encouraged in the development and review of regional plans and programs.

Input Opportunities: 2050 Regional Transportation Plan

SEMCOG, is also seeking input for Vision 2050, the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for Southeast Michigan.

Vision 2050 is a policy document that assesses the current state of regional transportation, anticipates future demand, estimates funding, forms policies, and tracks progress towards set targets. The 2050 Regional Transportation Plan sets a vision and blueprint for a region's transportation system, spanning approximately twenty years into the future. This plan must identify how Southeast Michigan will manage and operate a multi-modal transportation system (including transit, highway, bicycle, pedestrian, and accessible transportation) to meet the region’s goals, while remaining fiscally constrained.

These visioning sessions will provide an overview for regional transportation trends and the opportunity to craft goals for the upcoming Vision 2050.
