Exciting news! You can vote NOW in the November general election.

That’s right - as of Thursday, September 29, city and township clerks are required to have ballots available to voters.

Here is how you vote in person before Election Day by absentee ballot:

STEP 1: Visit your city or township clerk’s office

STEP 2: Complete an application for an absentee ballot and submit it to the staff

STEP 3: Complete the ballot, place it in the envelope provided, sign the outside of the envelope with your official signature, and submit it to the staff

If you’re already registered to vote where you live, you can vote absentee in person until the Monday before Election Day (November 7) at 4 p.m. And if you’re not yet registered to vote, or if you need to update your registration, you can register to vote - and then vote! - at your city or township clerk’s office until 8 p.m. on Election Day (November 8).  And of course, voting by absentee ballot from home is also an option. If you would like to vote from home, but have not yet requested your ballot, we recommend doing so as soon as possible. That way you will have ample time to receive your ballot, complete it, and return it to your city or township clerk.

If you have any questions or encounter any issues (for example, if your city or township clerk does not yet have ballots available), please call 866-OUR-VOTE. The Michigan Rapid Response Team is monitoring the calls that come in through the hotlines and will work to address any issues.
