In 2023, The Henry Ford acquired the home of Dr. Sullivan Jackson and Mrs. Ritchie Jean Sherrod Jackson in Selma, Alabama. It was a pivotal location for the Selma to Montgomery March for voting rights in 1965.

On Wednesday, August 6, the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, Amber N. Mitchell, Curator of Black History at The Henry Ford, will discuss the significance this historic home as a landmark of the Civil Rights Movement. Additionally, she will also discuss The Henry Ford's efforts in acquiring and preserving the Jackson House as a unique and impactful story of family, community and the pursuit of justice.
