Craig Mauger, reporter for The Detroit News, will discuss some of the issues involved in getting transparency from state office holders.

Not all of Michigan's state government officials are covered by freedom of information legislation. Craig Mauger, state politics reporter for The Detroit News, has been working on this issue for some time--Michigan Public's Zoe Clark has referred to him as Mr. Government Transparency. He will share his insights on where transparency is lacking, and what the public can do to fight for increased transparency.

This program is one element of a long-standing partnership between the Detroit Public Library and the Detroit League of Women Voters. We work to identify issues and speakers to educate voters, especially in Michigan and in Detroit.

A Zoom link will be sent to registrants before the program. We routinely initiate Zoom auto-transcription.

A recording will be posted on the Detroit Public Library YouTube channel after the program.
