Since Judge Jon Beetem issued a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit challenging provisions of HB1878, the state cannot enforce new restrictions on voter registration and absentee ballot solicitation until after the court hears the case and issues a final judgment. LWVMO President Marilyn McLeod said more than 175 League members rushed to register as voter solicitors this fall to comply with restrictions the court agreed are unreasonable.

“I’m delighted that the court recognized the League plays ‘an essential role in encouraging and enabling eligible Missourians to participate in our democracy.’”

The plaintiffs in the suit are the League of Women Voters of Missouri and the Missouri State Conference of the NAACP.
