As Midterms Near, League of Women Voters Marks 20 Years of Empowering Voters Through VOTE411
With Election Day one week away, the League celebrates two decades of helping tens of millions of Americans access trusted, nonpartisan election information
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, the League of Women Voters celebrates the 20th anniversary of VOTE411.org, its trusted, nonpartisan election information resource that has helped tens of millions of Americans access the facts they need to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
Launched in 2006, VOTE411 has become a one-stop shop for election information, helping voters check their registration, research candidates and ballot measures, find polling locations, understand voting requirements, and make a plan to vote. Its reach continues to grow significantly, with usage increasing from 6 million in 2020 to more than 9.2 million in 2024 — a more than 50% increase in just four consequential years.
“Twenty years. Tens of millions of voters empowered. And one unwavering commitment to making sure every eligible American has the information they need to make their voice heard,” said Celina Stewart, CEO of the League of Women Voters. “VOTE411 is more than a website. It is a promise to voters that wherever they live, whoever they are, they deserve access to trusted, nonpartisan information about their elections. As we celebrate this milestone, our message is simple: Get the facts. Make your plan. Use your power.”
The anniversary comes just one week before the November 3 midterm elections, as Americans navigate changing voting rules, disinformation, and important deadlines. Available in English and Spanish, VOTE411 continues to serve voters nationwide, providing information on more than 55,000 candidates across more than 29,000 races in 2026.
“VOTE411 was built 20 years ago to give every voter one trusted place to find the information they need — and it has delivered on that promise for millions of Americans,” said Jeanette Senecal, Chief of Civic Learning and Impact at the League of Women Voters. “Two decades later, with disinformation creating confusion and voting rules changing, VOTE411 is more consequential than ever. Whether you're voting for the first time or have participated in every election for decades, VOTE411 cuts through the noise and gives you the facts you need to use your power.”
With Election Day approaching, the League urges voters to visit VOTE411.org to check their registration, research their ballots, confirm voting locations and requirements, and explore early voting or vote-by-mail options, where available. Americans are also encouraged to share VOTE411 with five friends or family members to help more voters make their voices heard.
Celebrate 20 years of voter empowerment and get ready for Election Day at VOTE411.org.
