With the terms “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” and “DEI” becoming more controversial, the DEI Book Discussion Group has changed its name to JEDI – Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

The group chose Passing Strange: A Gilded Age Tale of Love and Deception Across the Color Line by Martha A. Sandweiss as its next book. It's the true story of Clarence King, a prominent geologist and son of a wealthy China trader, who led a double life for 13 years, working as a black Pullman porter and steelworker named James Todd.

On Feb. 2, the group discussed Master Slave Husband Wife. Percival Everett’s best-selling novel James drew the largest number of attendees for the discussion.

Join the next meeting on Sunday, March 30, at 5 pm on Zoom.
