At their next meeting, The JEDI Book Club will discuss the book What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Blacker: A Memoir in Essays by Damon Young on July 12, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. Young's memoir is a tragicomic exploration of the angsts, anxieties, and absurdities of existing while black in America. This prize-winning book is a hilarious and honest debut that is both a celebration of the idiosyncrasies and distinctions of blackness and a critique of white supremacy and how we define masculinity.
