By May 7, ask your senator for a firm NO on House H.3309. It will leave South Carolinians paying to subsidize energy and tax bills for data centers, weakens energy efficiency provisions, and reduces transparency. They want us to pay some costs in advance for plants that haven't even been built.

The SC Senate made positive changes to H.3309 but also incorporated the Rate Stabilization Act, a provision to allow utilities to raise customer rates annually without presenting a case before the Public Service Commission. Urge your House Representative to retain the positive Senate changes and delete the Rate Stabilization Act provisions.

The current "What You Can Do" (WYCD) action is related to clean energy tax credits. After the Inflation Reduction Act was implemented, the U.S. reported more than $315 billion in clean energy investments in 2024. Now, financial disbursements have been suspended. Solar and wind are the fastest and least expensive sources of energy production. Contact your Legislators with questions and/or to let them know how you feel and why.

Starting April 1, the SC Senate will debate controversial energy bill H.3309 that could be expensive for consumers. The bill offers reduced electric rates to wealthy companies like Meta and Google, weakens the regulatory process, and blocks clean energy solutions. Call your SC Senator to ensure consumers are protected.
