Harmful, anti-consumer H.3309 Energy Regulation bill returns to the Senate

Time Range For Action Alert:
May 06 2025 to May 08 2025

 your voice matters

The House has sent H.3309, the big energy bill, back to the Senate for approval of their changes.

The version the Senate is asked to accept this week removes many of the important protections for ratepayers and the environment that were added to the Senate version, while preserving a major harmful provision.

The asks

  1. Call your Senator. Ask for a firm NO vote on the House version of H.3309. A friendly staffer will take your call or you can leave a message.

  2. Share this action alert with friends and family members.

Why VOTE NO?

VOTE NO because it will leave South Carolinians paying to subsidize energy and tax bills for data centers.

    • These data centers are greedy for energy, greedy for water, and greedy for our money to pay their bills. They demand subsidies so that their corporate profits will become even more inflated, along with the profits of utilities that build generating and transmission capacity for them. Knowledgeable senators say that feeble promises of fixing this next year are almost certainly fiction.

VOTE NO because badly needed energy efficiency provisions in the Senate version have been weakened.

VOTE NO because the House version reduces transparency for landowners in acquisition of private lands for energy facilities

VOTE NO because they want us to pay some costs in advance for plants that haven’t been built, using a rate increase process that evades full rate hearings involving all interested parties.
