On October 12th, Rock Creek Winery played host to a special event that celebrated the extraordinary contributions of Lisette Estrella Henderson, the retired County Superintendent of Schools for Solano County. The day was filled with heartfelt appreciation for her many years of dedicated service to the students, educators, and communities within Solano County. Democracy

This slide deck is designed to provide basic information about congressional districts, the selection process and purpose. The powerpoint also includes nonpartisan information regarding Proposition 50, including what it is and the ins and outs of the Proposition. The content was developed by the League of Women Voters of Stanislaus County and is based on the information provided in the Easy Voter Guide. Fair Maps

League of Women Voters of the United States CEO Celina Stewart, Esq., issued the following statement in response to states considering mid-cycle redistricting:

"The League of Women Voters does not support a tit-for-tat approach to redistricting. State legislatures redrawing their maps mid-cycle reflects political gamesmanship that erodes public trust in our democracy. Redistricting must be fair, transparent, and rooted in the voices of voters — not partisan retaliation.

Action Alerts

60th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act

(The following was copied from LWVUS's 08/06/25 Action Alert.)

Sixty years ago, Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act (VRA) into law, outlawing discriminatory barriers that prevented voters of color from exercising their right to vote.

In the decades since it was passed into law, the VRA has been reauthorized every time with bipartisan support and signed by presidents of both political parties. The VRA remains necessary to this day to prevent voter discrimination for all of us, no matter the language we speak, the color of our skin, or the zip code we live in.

The Senate just reintroduced the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (JLVRAA), which will fully modernize and restore the VRA to protect voters against discrimination.

Tell your Representatives and Senators to support the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and live up to the full promise of American democracy.
