LWV Kent honored at NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner

Thank you to the Portage County NAACP for honoring the League of Women Voters of Kent with its Social Justice Award at this past weekend’s Freedom Fund Dinner. The League of Women Voters of Kent was recognized for its tireless work to collect signatures and educate voters in 2017 about Issue 1 which passed and will provide a fair redistricting process for Ohio’s Congressional districts. Issue 1 passed with 75% of the vote.

That’s the new mantra across campus as Kent State students want to be counted – as voters, not just student residents. To kick off REV, Kent State committed to an all-across campus push.

The push will be handled in three stages - Registration...then Education, hopefully through a variety of forums and then pushing students to vote early, vote through absentee or to vote on Election Day, Nov. 6.

The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin talked with real Wisconsin voters. We asked them to tell us why they're a Wisconsin voter. The Be A Wisconsin Voter video series showcases their unique stories about why they vote and why the right to vote is important.

We'll be unveiling new voter narratives as we build a library of stories. Watch as our featured voters tell their stories. Their stories will encourage and inspire all eligible voters to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
