2nd Saturday Program - What Influences Our Elections - Money In Politics

The Past, Present, and Future of the Fight for Fairness in Elections and Politics in California” is the subject of the talk by Kevin Wolf, Chair of the California Clean Money Action Fund. Wolf will discuss the California DISCLOSE Act, which was recently passed by the Senate and Assembly, and other legislation to require that the individuals funding bills or initiatives be conspicuously named in advertisements. Kenyan Bliss, Grassroots Coordinator for the Move to Amend Coalition, will speak on the movement to overturn the Supreme Court's 2010 decision in Citizens United, which allowed unlimited campaign contributions by declaring money to be speech and corporations to be persons as within the meaning of the First Amendment to the US Constitution.
Coffee, treats and conversation begin at 9:30, program begins promptly at 10:00 and ends at noon.
