Education

We support equal opportunity for high quality education for all students from early childhood through community college. We work actively to educate ourselves and the community about innovations in education as well as financing for education.

News

The League of Women Voters of Wheaton believes the November ballot referendum from Community Unit School District 200 should be passed by the voters. This referendum is to replace the 60-year-old Jefferson Early Childhood Education Center without a tax increase.

Position

Support for a local public K-12 educational system that maintains a broad spectrum of program offerings to promote academic basics along with citizenship responsibility, career training, and personal growth, and that assures sufficient and reliable public financial support of schools.

Position

The League of Women Voters of Kent strongly supports public school systems which are empowered by and responsive to the communities they serve. The League supports school systems that strive to provide students with a quality, comprehensive education and exhibit financial responsibility and stability. A system's ability to be a model educational institution stems from its dedicated, well-trained staff and fine physical facilities that are made possible through voter and community support.

Position

We support an assured, stable, adequate and fiscally sound source of funding for the Long Beach Public Library. Following a local study, this position was adopted at the Annual Meeting of the LWV/LBA on May 21, 1997.

Position

We support the position that the Long Beach Department of Parks Recreation and Marine should be responsible for providing recreational activities which respond to the changing needs of youth and that the Department of Parks Recreation and Marine participate in the coordination of all recreational activities (both public and private) for youth in Long Beach.

Position

We support: More open communication between School Board and citizens.

The LWV California campaign helped produce this video in 2015 to restore revenue to schools, public services and infrastructure repair.
