Join us for Legislative Day at the Vermont Statehouse in Winter

The League of Women Voters of Vermont is preparing for advocacy during the 2018 Legislative session which will open in January in Montpelier.

Based on the program adopted at Convention in June, Health Care (H.248), Clean Water (H.95/H.576), and Carbon Tax (H.394, S.284, H.528, -31, -32, -33) are our legislative priorities.  In addition, the League supports background checs for transfer of firearms (S.6/H.151), voter rights (H.624) and IRV (S.213).

Dissecting Master Planning in Sussex County- April 11, 2018.  This was the 18th in our series of public forums focusing on educating and empowering all Sussex residents to become involved in the drafting of the 2018 Comprehensive Plan. The forum was available via live streaming.  

We support equal opportunity for high quality education for all students in Fresno County Schools, from early childhood through community college.

What do we advocate?

  • Long range planning
  • Improved communication between the schools and the public
  • Support of a funding system which is adequate and reliable and is distributed fairly so all students have equal access to public education
  • Availability of quality preschool programs for all children

We support equal housing opportunities for all Fresno City and County residents.

What do we advocate?

  • Additional low income housing
  • An increase in dissemination of information about housing practices

We support a balanced, safe and efficient transportation network that will preserve a quality environment and provide mobility throughout the region.
