As we welcome the crisp air of autumn, I’m reminded of the importance of staying engaged and active in our communities, particularly as we approach another critical election season. It’s an exciting time for our League, as we continue to advance our mission to empower voters and defend democracy.

The League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale Area is launching Unite & Rise 8.5 — a nationwide campaign to mobilize 8.5 million Americans in defense of democracy.

League of Women Voters of the United States CEO Celina Stewart, Esq., issued the following statement in response to states considering mid-cycle redistricting:

"The League of Women Voters does not support a tit-for-tat approach to redistricting. State legislatures redrawing their maps mid-cycle reflects political gamesmanship that erodes public trust in our democracy. Redistricting must be fair, transparent, and rooted in the voices of voters — not partisan retaliation.
