Central Vermont Chapter Bulletin 2018 Fall

Central Vermont Chapter Bulletin 2018 Fall

Well, we started our new League year with a bang beginning with a successful social event celebrating Women's Equality Day (24 people signed in, about 1/3 nonmembers), On its heels was the annual 9/11 Naturalization Ceremony at the State House, where we register voters and host a reception every year. Lots of pictures on page 2.

September is Voter Registration Month, and we are in the midst of it. LWVCEN members registered voters at the Northfield Labor Day celebration, in addition to the aforementioned State House event. Others returned to Northfield on th 20th to register Norwich University students. LWCEN members will also join other members from around the state to register voters at the Northern Correctional Facility in Newport and the Southern Correctional Facility in Springfield, in an exciting new program initiated and led by our own Madeline Motta. Thanks to everyone participating in these empowering activities.

We're planning a candidate forum for Washington County Senate. Details will be forthcoming.

For the third year we are partnering with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library to present stimulating and informative programs about how government and politics work in this country. The schedule can be found on page 3. We hope this series supports the League's mission.

Last but far from least, some small few of you have still not renewed your membership! You know who you are. Please be part of our work to defend democracy, whether you can be active or not. Who knows? You may find just the task or activity, large or small, that strickes your fancy, and you'll be glad you did. If not, your dues support everything we do.
