I hope this finds each of you safe and healthy as we ease back into a new sense of “normal.”

We have been busy figuring out what that means for the LWV, voter registration and education. Zoom meetings seem to be very accessible. We have had more engagement with our members via Zoom, which I think is wonderful! Please do consider joining us- whether it’s a board meeting, Drinks & Democracy or any other committee meeting. We will share the Zoom invitations, so be watching for them. Board meetings for the next few months at least will be at 2pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The next one is Tuesday, July 14. It’s a great opportunity to see how you can be involved and what is going on.

We are beginning to get back out in the community to offer voter registration and education. Look for us at the Merc!

The LWV National Convention, June 25-27, 2020 has gone virtual this centennial year due to COVID-19. Our National delegates for Lawrence/Douglas County will be Emily Riner, Martha Silks, Marjorie Cole, Sonja Czarnecki (taking Melissa Wick’s place) and Kristin Salmans. You can also sign up to attend. There is no fee to register as an observer. Sign up now- deadline is June 15, but the sooner the better! Here is the link: https://www.lwv.org/league-management/council-convention/convention-2020...

Our Kansas State LWV will have a booth at the Kansas State Fair in celebration of our centennial this year! Our Lawrence LWV chapter is signed up to staff our booth on Saturday, Sept 12. *We will be in an air conditioned building!* Fun swag and games to share with fellow Kansans, too! We need 2-3 volunteers per shift 9am-7pm. Please sign up here https://forms.gle/wJDe9TfqaD1noHDT6

Join us! It should be a really fun time!

The ideas and innovation we see coming from the challenge of changing how we do things is incredibly energizing to me! I am thankful for each of you and your contributions to the League!
