NewsThe Board of Directors met via Zoom in October. Here is a summary:
- The League of Women Voters Pasadena Area helped conduct the Altadena Town Council candidate forum on October 28.
- LWV-PA will assist the Caltech Alumni Association in tallying up votes following their 2021 Board election ending on November 18. (The slate will be presented to the CAA membership at the annual members’ meeting on December 2.)
- The League received a $3,000 grant from the law firm Gronemeier and Hickambottom honoring our activist leadership and our work on housing, voter education, and voting rights.
- The LWV-PA Immigration Committee has continued its work with the San Diego immigration committee and is trying to gain traction at the state level, with positive results.
- The California League has created Google groups and is inviting members from different leagues to join.
- LWV-PA will be holding a holiday party on Thursday, December 2, 6:00–8:00 p.m. More information will be released at a later date.
- LWV-PA has been closely watching developments related to Pasadena’s campaign finance limits and has voted to form a committee that keeps an eye on the developments.
- The Board delayed a decision on how we will support the Pasadena Tenant Justice Coalition to the next Board meeting, on November 10.
- The Events Committee is looking for locations to hold upcoming in-person events and is asking for a $10 donation from attendees to help pay for refreshments. Any suggestions should be sent to the Events Committee.
- The virtual Ice Cream Social fundraising period will end around Veteran’s Day.
- Students will no longer be charged dues as long as they meet the following eligibility requirements: at least 16 years of age and enrolled at an accredited educational institution at least half-time.
