League of Women Voters of Butte County Special Board Meeting Minutes November 30, 2021 6:30 pm Via ZOOM |
Members Present: Mahalley Allen, Roxanne Ferry, Sandra Flake, Patty Haley, Claire Greene, Janet Rechtman, Toni Reid, and Satsie Veith
Guests Present: Helen Gesick and Jane Wanderer
- 1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order at 6:33 pm.
- 2. Redistricting Letter to Board of Supervisors
Satsie explained that Maureen Kirk reached out asking if the LWVBC would be sending a letter regarding the Butte County Board of Supervisors’ redistricting plans. Board members discussed whether to send a letter to the Board of Supervisors on this topic.
Board members discussed the purpose of such a letter, such as explaining legal criteria and reminding about guiding principles.
Motion:
Sandra moved and Roxanne seconded a motion to send a letter to the Butte County Board of Supervisors regarding redistricting. Motion passed unanimously.
Board members discussed ways to get the letter to the public and press and then worked together to revise the letter to the Board of Supervisors.
Helen will also the letter to the LWVBC website. The letter may also be shared with the members in other ways.
