League of Women Voters of Michigan Education Fund Presentation

Originally presented on Wednesday, March 16, 7 pm

After a quick review of Michigan’s new Voting Rights and how the passage of Proposal 3 likely affected voter turnout, this presentation explains the reaction in the Michigan Legislature, covers how a bill becomes a law, the current status of election bills, lists resources and highlights the Secretary of State’s Legislative Agenda.

An explanation of the Initiative Petition process and the Secure MI Vote petition currently circulating, and an explanation of the Constitutional Petition process and the Promote the Vote petition soon to be circulating are briefly covered.

After a word about what’s happening around the country and at the federal level, there is information about mis- and disinformation. It ends with “What can you do?”

The presenter is Betsy Cushman, Past LWV-MI Vice President of Voter Services and current LWV-DDH Voter Services Director. This is an educational presentation.

Please note:  Here is a link to a Bridge article about the many ballot proposals being or to be circulated.  It is continuously updated so a really good source!
