The May election is next Tuesday, May 3. That means that, this weekend (April 30 - May 1), all city and township clerks must open their doors for at least eight hours for voter registration and in-person absentee voting.
To find their clerk’s specific hours and locations, voters can visit MI.gov/vote and click on “where are my clerk’s offices.” Voters who are unable to (or don’t want to) use the online tool can call the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) or one of the hotlines available in a language other than English for assistance.
Remember - at this point, the only way to register to vote in the May election is in person at a voter’s city or township clerk’s office with proof of residency. Therefore, to vote in the May election, those who visit their city or township clerk’s office this weekend to register should bring proof of residency. More info about proof of residency is on MichiganVoting.org.
Finally, as we get closer to Election Day, we’re also reminding voters that if they have any voting-related questions or need to report an incident of voter suppression, they should call the nonpartisan Election Protection Hotline (866-OUR-VOTE) or one of the hotlines available in a language other than English.
