There are several ways for a voter to apply for an absentee ballot:

  • Those with a current Michigan's driver's license or state ID can apply online by going to MI.gov/vote and clicking on "apply for an absentee ballot online".

  • Voters can print an application by going to MI.gov/vote and clicking on “get a printable application,” or they can call their city or township clerk and ask that an application be mailed to them. Voters can also use any application provided to them by the Secretary of State, their local clerk, a political party or another organization.

  • Once a voter completes the application, they should sign it using their official signature and submit it to their city or township clerk, either by email, mail, fax, or in person.

  •  Voters can also apply for a ballot in person at their city or township clerk’s office.
