Date of Meeting: 9/26/2022

Format: In-person

Meeting Summary:

Meeting began with roll call.

There was a presentation of $1500 from the class of 1972 for the high school. There were awards given to students and staff who excel in some way to give service to the school community. Pictures were taken.

Treasurer's report noted that land was sold and $157,000 was received as a result, by the high school. Covid impacted and decreased spending in the 2022 financials, so this year's plan is a carryover. Financial reports, transfers of funds, and purchase service agreements proposed were all approved. There was approval to do an online auction of items of school property. Salary increases and stipends for specified positions were accepted. There was no discussion of these matters as they were identified on the agenda outline. Resignations and new hires were identified and approved. Not expanded on too greatly, was a report by the superintendent. Diversity, Equity, and inclusion are the factors measured by a DEI task force. A report card using stars rates the school's performance. The curriculum team is currently focused on alternatives to suspension. A parent was given the opportunity to speak in the time allotted to the public. He has concerns because these test scores for the school are worsening. He said especially poor is the 9.6% score given to college readiness. He asked how much the school might improve with the next DEI review. The second speaker was concerned for children in the school due to gun violence. He was asking for info on legislation for the right to carry and wanted to know if the school was going to adopt right-to-carry measures in the school. The protocol is that the inquiries/statements made by the public at the board meeting do not get a response during the meeting. The board later provides a written response. Significant future dates were shared, and the meeting was closed.
