The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge welcomes the community to Lunch With the League from 11:30 AM EST – 1:00 PM EST on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike. All are welcome to bring their lunch or purchase a boxed lunch for a nominal fee. Coffee and tea will be served. The presentation will begin at noon.
The State of the City of Oak Ridge
Randy Hemann has been the City Manager in Oak Ridge since November 1, 2023. He brings 10 years of city management experience with him.
Previously, he was Town Manager of Mooresville for 4 years. During his time there, he helped the community grow and invest in services including a new police headquarters, fire station, a park, library branch, and the largest skatepark in the southeast.
Mr. Hemann helped construct a $36 million baseball stadium that spurred downtown growth in High Point, NC where he was Assistant Manager for four years, He also helped streamline the building inspections process and increased community code enforcement.
He served as City Manager in Oxford, North Carolina for two years following a 27-year career in the field of downtown development in Salisbury, Kinston and Benson, North Carolina.
Mr. Hemann is a native of Huntington, West Virginia. He was awarded a BA in Political Science at Marshall University and holds a Master of Public Administration degree at East Carolina University.
Lunch with the League welcomes League members and nonmembers alike to this informative presentation. The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge is a nonpartisan political organization for men and women. It encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
