Ray Partridge is an educator, researcher, and community worker who serves the City of Little Rock in the Sustainability Office as the Recycling & Sustainability Educator. In this role, she provides schools, civic groups, neighborhood associations, and other organizations and individuals with education about Little Rock’s recycling programs and sustainability efforts. She has a bachelor’s degree in History, and Environmental Studies from Hendrix College, and recently completed a master’s in Political Ecology, Economics, and Policy from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In between, she was an ESL teacher in Spain; served 2 years in Full Circle FarmCorps; taught hands-on, early childhood and elementary garden and nutrition education; worked on a local, woman-owned, certified-humane pig farm; and managed the Pro Bono caseload for the Legal Aid of Arkansas Medical-Legal Partnership. In her free time, she writes grants and manages the website for the community-based nonprofit Urban Patchwork. At this month’s meeting, Ray will offer a refresher on how to recycle right, provide some insight into the City’s plans for Little Rock’s sustainable future, and answer the question on everyone’s mind – does all that stuff really get recycled?
