Desegregating Riverside Unified School District 1964-2024
Speakers Dr. Bill Medina, Professor of History at Riverside City College, and Jacqueline Hall, retired principal of Patricia Beatty Elementary School, grew up on the Eastside in the 1960’s and were in the first wave of children bused to schools outside their community.
Both went on to successful careers in education and will provide their personal and professional perspective on the history and impact of Riverside’s school desegregation efforts
Early desegregation efforts included the closing of the Eastside elementary school. Riverside Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Renee Hill will share an update on RUSD’s current commitment to build the first new elementary school on the Eastside in almost 60 years.
