Guest: Sandra Flake

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 5:03 p.m.

End of Year Financial Report:   Former Treasurer Sandra Flake answered questions about the Year End Summary and Year End Cash Assets Reports.

  • Marcia moved to accept the reports; Toni seconded. The vote was unanimous.

Sandra will supply a narrative explanation to go with the spreadsheets which must be sent to all members by September 30.  She also reported that she has contacted the IRS; she was told that the League application to become a 501c3 is “in-process.” She thinks it is likely to be a year.

Fall Coffee Final Plans

Janet shared the planned agenda: The board said “yes” to a T-shirt with a slogan that encourages registering and voting as a speaker gift.  Marcia will speak early in the meeting and other board members will do so if they desire.

Candidate Events/Voter Registration Events Calendar

Janet shared a chronological list of registration and other League election-related events and board members discussed various plans.  Claire is planning forums in Chico, Paradise, and Oroville, and a speed-dating event in Chico for the 1st CD, State Senate and Assembly candidates. All these will be in-person events.

Membership Report

Marcia reported on the status of our membership and that it is time for dues/membership renewals.

Measure H – Proposal to Advocate

It was suggested by a League member that our League advocate for Measure H, the county-wide 1 cent sales tax increase. The board discussed and agreed that there is not sufficient time for the desired analysis of the pro’s and con’s of the measure that would be necessary to support advocacy.

Instead: call to educate for an informed vote. S and J aren’t in favor of advocating with pros and cons. All decided to give this a pass.

Adjourned at 5:59 p.m.
