State Rep. Rick Scarbrough, Republican representative of Anderson County and District 33, will speak on his experiences and successes during his first term in the Tennessee General Assembly on Tuesday, May 6, at 12 noon during the Lunch with the League meeting of the League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge.
Scarbrough, who was elected to his position last November, defeated John Ragan, who had served as District 33 representative since 2010. Scarbrough was just named “freshman of the year” in the legislature’s House of Representatives by the Tennessee Journal, a political publication.
He has been executive director of the University of Tennessee’s Law Enforcement Innovation Center in Oak Ridge since 2018 and police chief and member of the Clinton Police Department since 1995. He holds both B.S. and M.S. degrees in organizational management from Tusculum College.
The public is invited to attend the lunch and lecture between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike. All are welcome to bring their lunch or purchase a boxed lunch for a nominal fee. Coffee and tea will be served. The presentation will begin at noon and end with questions and answers.
Lunch with the League welcomes League members and nonmembers alike to this informative presentation. The League of Women Voters of Oak Ridge is a nonpartisan political organization for women and men. It encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
