News flash: Governor DeWine is convening the Oho Redistricting Commission next week.
This first meeting of the Ohio Redistricting Commission is now scheduled just ten days before the October 31 deadline in the Ohio Constitution for the Commission to have proposed and passed a map. Not much time!
Here’s what we expect at the meeting on Tuesday: After the Oath of Office is administered, the map proposed by the legislative Democrats–Senate Bill 250 and House Bill 442–will be considered.
We do not know whether any other “official” maps will be introduced Tuesday, but we do want the commissioners to know we are paying attention! Even though it’s not clear whether the public will be able to testify (the portal , as of this posting, is not yet accepting testimony), we encourage you to join us at the Statehouse and help us pack the room! If you can’t make it in person, you can follow along by watching on The Ohio Channel. You can also join the Fair Districts People Watch team and sport a “Where’s the Map” t-shirt! Sign up HERE.
Note: Watch the Redistricting Hearings held last month, September, on The Ohio Channel.
