So many people want to be civically engaged, but they don't know where to start. There are many choices!
Take an active role in LWV Nevada County
The League of Women Voters has stood strong since 1920 when women won the right to vote. The Nevada County chapter was formed in the late '70s, and we are just as determined now as then to provide education and information to empower voters in their voting choices. Information is power.
We have big roles and smaller roles, and they are all essential to the work we do.n Several key League roles are available right now! This is a great chance to contribute directly right here at home. See the opportunities on our Volunteer page here.
Observe the election
Nevada County elections office welcomes anyone who would like a tour of the facility (at 12740 Loma Rica) either before or after elections. They also welcome poll watchers to observe elections to ensure fairness. Guidelines for observing the elections process and vote county are at: https://nevadacountyca.gov/3587/Election-Observers
Work the polls
Shortages of poll workers lead to longer voting lines and overworked election administrators. Nevada County has a newly renovated Vote Center on 12740 Loma Rica Rd. with a knowledeable and friendly staff. See details here.
