The Callais decision: two new opportunities on 05/12/26 to deepen our understanding of this decision.
It can’t be said enough—last week’s decision by the US Supreme Court to effectively gut the Voting Rights Act is devastating and the loss of its protections is something we are all deeply grieving. The consequences of this ruling are going to be felt immediately and continuously, and all of us need to learn more about what these impacts will be and what we can do as advocates at the grassroots level to support voters and democracy.
There are two calls on Tuesday evening that will begin to address this. The first will be held by the LWVUS litigation team and will look at the legal and practical implications of the ruling. The second is a coalition call sponsored by us, Red, Wine, & Blue, OVRC, Common Cause Ohio, and many others that will center Ohio in the SCOTUS decision and help us understand the ways injustice in other states truly means injustice for us all. We will have incredible speakers for this one, so prepare to leave not just informed but deeply moved. We hope to see you on both of these calls!
