  • Lead — Oct. 26 Listening Session: Lindy Johnson of the Contra Costa Transportation Authority presented “What Comes Next in Transportation” at the chapter board meeting (video linked in the full issue); the CCTA Citizens Advisory Committee is seeking appointees from Pinole, Richmond, and San Pablo — let your city council know if you'd like to serve.
  • Voter Alert — Election Day is November 3: Early voting opened October 24; polls are open 7 a.m.–8 p.m. on Nov. 3. After October 27, return ballots by drop box or at a vote center rather than by mail.
  • Richmond: $99.7 million in Chevron settlement money still unspent as of Sept. 30, and the council voted unanimously to extend the data-center moratorium through September 2028.
  • WCCUSD: Trustees reviewed a dashboard showing graduation up to 88.4% and college-and-career readiness up, while chronic absenteeism spiked to about 28%.
  • Measure V — Our chapter enthusiastically endorses Yes on WCCUSD Measure V on the Nov. 3 ballot — it renews the existing parcel tax (not a new tax) through 2035-36.
  • Save the date / Tonight: CCTA Citizens Advisory Committee meets Wed. Oct. 28 at 6:00 p.m.; Pros & Cons presentation and all candidate forum recordings are linked in the full issue.
