Meeting Summary:

PUBLIC COMMENT

Detective Nick DeSerio reported November’s statistics for calls for service in Franklin Township, which included, among others, welfare checks, suspicious persons and vehicles, accidents, assistance to the rescue squad, thefts, property damage, traffic stops, and citations for a total of 255 calls. He also was on duty in the township the weekend before Thanksgiving to assist during a fire.

A Twin Lakes area resident again addressed the board regarding excessive speeds by motorists in his neighborhood. Solutions are being sought by the sheriff’s department and the township board.

Jill Grimm, representing the Twin Lakes Association, reported that many Twin Lakes area residents are also concerned about the speeding issue. She also sought advice about who to contact regarding a deer carcass on Rt 43; Mr. Akerley suggested she contact ODOT, but if there is no response, let him know. She also asked about the possibility of a disposal site for
brush and other yard debris.

ROAD, ZONING AND FIRE REPORTS

Mr. Akerley reported that he bid on and won a used portable speed radar trailer which will be delivered this week. It will be posted at various locations in the township as soon as it is ready.
It is hoped that this will curtail some of the speeding problems. He also asked for help from the board in choosing a font for a township brand on vehicles, letterhead, etc.

Mr. Ciccozzi asked for approval to put a small space heater in his office since there is no heat there; this was approved so long as it complies with fire regulations.

Mr. Smith spoke about the recent fire on Johnson Road, where there was a lot of damage but no injuries.

OLD BUSINESS

Mr. Russell reported that officials of Sugar Bush Knolls are not ready to decide on an agreement related to snow removal so that the topic will probably need to be revisited next year.

NEW BUSINESS

A motion to cancel the second meeting in December, which is scheduled for the day after Christmas, was approved by all three trustees.

Mr. Russell reported that the Kent Lion’s Club has donated a Trex bench to the township. The board will discuss a location for placement.

Mrs. Kapusta has received a call about another street light on Brady Lake Road. Also, a resident of Powdermill Road called with concerns about cars parked along the road at night.
