Meeting Summary:

Public Comment--20 students and parents (there was one unrelated public comment). The Board stated that there would be a 30-minute time limit, 1:42 mins per person, though speakers could combine their time.

Most students and parents were there to speak up in support of Mr. Dawson, the Band Director. They stated that he taught life lessons as well as music, and the band had blossomed under his leadership. One student spoke in support of the decision to accept his resignation, stating that others shared her opinion. All the others wanted him to be reinstated. There have been 8 band directors in the last dozen years, Dawson had been there for 2 years, providing stability at last.

The board thanked them for their comments but stated that they couldn't comment on personnel decisions. The board said that Mr. Dawson had signed a voluntary resignation agreement and would not be back.

The board went into an executive session at 6:27 to discuss the matter.
