Date of Meeting: 4/14/2022
Format: In-person
Meeting Summary:
The meeting started at 5:30 pm.
Superintendent's report - recognition of Metro Athletic Leadership Conference student participants, recognition of students in the 90% and above who took the ACT exam.
Streetsboro will be adopting the Big Ideas Math Curriculum from Cengage with online components. They used American Rescue Plan funds for the entire purchase which includes an 8-year subscription.
Treasurer's report - revenues exceed expenditures.
Chief Business Officer's report - they have hired the GPD Group to assess the district's facilities and report anything due for an upgrade. The district needs to plan ahead instead of just reacting to problems when they occur. This is the first time they've done this, and it is in the interest of being careful with tax dollars. The GPD Group has ties to the Ohio School Council and just had a 3-year contract renewed (the company's third).
Fuel Cloud - the district has replaced the old manual system for managing their tanks (one regular gas, one diesel) with a box that includes hardware, software, and connectivity to monitor fuel use. It is the same system that the City of Streetsboro uses. There is a monthly fee, and drivers will have phone apps that allow them to use the system.
500 more chrome books need to be purchased as part of the next refresh cycle. Each student has access to one. More and more textbooks are going online, and Streetsboro schools need to follow this trend.
The CBO reported on window enhancements where anyone inside can look out, but anyone on the outside can't look in. Students are also decorating walls with photos they choose--this fosters school pride.
There will be changes to start/stop times in the fall to make bussing more efficient as there are not enough drivers. There will be a staggered start for the middle and high schools.
School Bus Road-e-o: state-wide competition emphasizing bus driver safety, will be in Streetsboro in April, 45 competitors, the first year they've had it since Covid lockdown.
